As we age, our hormone levels drop dramatically, potentially leading to fatigue, memory loss, weight gain, anxiety, depression, loss of bone mass, diabetes, heart disease, loss of desire for or painful sex, sleep issues and changes in skin tissue resulting in dryness and loss of elasticity.
Our hormones control most of our basic bodily functions. They serve as an internal communication system between cells throughout the body and coordinate everything from digestion and growth to appetite, immune function, mood and libido. So, when our hormones are out of balance, even slightly, it can have a huge impact on our health and well-being.
Diet, environment, and lifestyle habits are key to health and feeling well which includes optimal function of hormone levels throughout life. Our hormones dictate nearly every facet of our body systems’ functions, including organs and cells, for health and well-being.https://www.thekarlfeldtcenter.com/optimizing-hormone-levels-versus-just-being-in-the-normal-range-2/
Many people resort to synthetic hormone replacement. A better option is to use bioidentical hormones. Bioidentical hormones are different from those used in traditional hormone replacement therapy in that they’re chemically identical to those our bodies produce naturally.
Frequently a medical doctor will check our blood hormonal levels, and if we fall within range, they will tell us that we are healthy and send us on our way, no matter how horrible we feel.
The goal with bioidentical hormone therapy is not just to support us to barely be functioning; it is to assist us in achieving optimum health, where we enjoy life to its fullest.
In addition to maximizing our hormonal levels using bio-identical hormones, it is important to also support our hormonal system with healthy dietary and lifestyle changes.
We should reduce inflammatory foods such as sugar, refined grains, processed oils and fried foods; eat more fiber and antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables; exercise and manage our stress with things like meditation, yoga and being out in nature.
